the official corporate handmaiden stenographers of the world's elites have come out to condemn the better-late-than-never release of the full wikileaks cache of US diplomatic cables.
what took you guys so long? here's the bawling of the midnight kitty-cat crew:
WikiLeaks publishes full cache of unredacted cables | Media | guardian.co.uk: "WikiLeaks has published its full archive of 251,000 secret US diplomatic cables, without redactions, potentially exposing thousands of individuals named in the documents to detention, harm or put their lives in danger.perhaps some of these "sources" were worthy of being protected, but at this point the cat's been out of the bag on the cables for over a year, so if they haven't done anything to protect themselves it's probably their own fault.
The move has been strongly condemned by four previous media partners – the Guardian, New York Times, El Pais and Der Spiegel – who have worked with WikiLeaks publishing carefully selected and redacted documents.
"We deplore the decision of WikiLeaks to publish the unredacted state department cables, which may put sources at risk," the organisations said in a joint statement."
but more to the point, most of the sources are probably more accurately described as "stooges" of the US government, selling out their own governments for CIA payouts. being a CIA asset may seem glamorous, and we may be under the illusion that US power is mostly used in benign ways, but when you get to the heart of the matter, that's unfortunately far from the case.
and remember, this is just confidential information; it isn't "secret", much less of a higher security classification. so while the tawdry doings of the US and its minions may be laid bare for the world to see, the real dirt has been, and will continue to be, hidden.
wikileaks, publish away!
