make nice with thine enemies

the unions in wausau, wisconsin don't want republican politicians in their labor day parade, and now the mayor says that they'll have to pay the city $2k if they let their enemies in on the festivities:

Labor leaders must pay for parade if GOP banned, mayor says | Reuters: "(Reuters) - The mayor of a Wisconsin town said on Tuesday a local labor council would have to reimburse the city up to $2,000 for a Labor Day parade if organizers exclude Republican lawmakers from attending.

The move in Wausau, Wisconsin, came after a county labor official said last week that Republican politicians were not welcome at the event due to their party's stance against collective bargaining when state lawmakers voted to curtail it earlier this year.

Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple told Reuters on Tuesday that the decision to exclude elected Republicans "flies in the face of public policy.""
why would any rational person want to invite his enemies, who are dedicated to his complete, total destruction, into his activity? would a hip-hop concert invite the KKK to come on down?

it's not that the GOP can't come and shout and boo the union parade if they wish. they just shouldn't be permitted to march in labor's parade if their sole motivation is to destroy the power of unions to challenge the billionaire oligarchs who fund the tea party and chamber of commerce and FOX news -- all the tentacles of the right-wing hate machine.

labor day is a day to celebrate working people and the labor movement in the US -- as emasculated as it is -- for all the magnificent things it has done for those who labor for a living. GOP fat-cats and their sycophants aren't entitled to march along with those who actually care for and fight for the working person's welfare, since the GOP is the political arm of the oligarchs who are trying to make the US another third-world banana republic -- with wages and working conditions on a par with the slave labor of red china.
