adios, jimbo

jim webb is calling it quits. no rematch with the punk-ass pretender george allen.

actually, i doubt allen will win his party's nomination, either. what a fake, uninspiring numbnut. somebody needs to put a cowboy boot up his ass, and spit tobacco juice in his eye. then give him a rebel flag to wipe it with.

i voted for webb but lost confidence in him when he voted to retroactively immunize the phone companies for their complicity with the lawless bushco administration in spying on their political opponents (you don't seriously believe it has anything to do with "terrorism", do you?). i figured then, webb's just another player.

i supported him in the first place because i thought he was electable. he wasn't george allen, either. those were two compelling facts in my book. he was hawkish enough to deflect the soft-on-defense slurs, and his  comments on economic inequality in american society gave me hope that he wasn't strictly a corporate shill.

the fact that he isn't seeking reelection, ironically, makes me respect him more than if he'd gotten in there to slug it out with whatever abysmal right-wing robot the GOPpers stood against him. he'd have been bound to humiliate himself for the sake of corporate largess, and he'd never have recovered his manhood -- which i take it is of some importance to the man.

the sad fact is, the US is racing to a meltdown, and the colossal failure that lies ahead will tar all those who are associated with it with a stinking shit-stain of complicity. when the largest corporate confidence game in all of history goes down with a thunderous crash, bernie madoff will be glad he's in the slammer and not under that hammer.

i noted how all the foaming-at-the-gills right-wingers on politico, in the comments section, were rubbing their hands together with relish at the prospects for GOP domination in 2012. all i can say is, don't count your chickens, guys. a lot is gonna happen between now and then. just like events in egypt and that part of the world caught all the smart people in DC in a DUH! moment, the whipsaw of of popular discontent is headed their way.

webb obviously didn't have the stomach for the faux democracy practiced in the USA, and for that i can't fault him. i don't have much stomach for it myself. i know there are plenty of suckers who do, however, and don't mind groveling for even a bit part in a big show where they play for fat paydays on the other side of the revolving door.
